Saint Asonia started out as a sort of experiment, originating with former lead vocalist from Three Days Grace, Adam Gontier and Staind guitarist Mike Mushok, getting together to write some music just for fun in their down time. That effort resulted in a collection of tracks that quickly caught the attention of a few prominent industry executives over at RCA Records. What started out as a couple guys just getting together to write some tunes quickly turned into a full set of new music, and after reaching out to friends, Adam and Mike enlisted Rich Beddoe [Finger Eleven] and Corey Lowery [Dark New Day, Stereomud, Eye Empire] and hit the studio to start laying down tracks.
Resulting in a line up that among the members collectively consists of no less than 25 Top Ten Rock Singles, 17 of which are #1 hits!!
The guys kept all this pretty quiet and under wraps for several months as they worked in the studio. And on May 16th, 2015 to the surprise of upwards of 20,000 fans in Columbus, Ohio at ‘Rock on the Range’ (Currently America’s largest rock festival) the band made its formal live debut on the main stage, represented on the schedule simply as the ‘special guest’ performers.
The album which was released in the United States and Canada on July 31st, 2015 is a completely homegrown effort, no limits, no requirements, no restrictions and most of all no expectations, the result is a mix of 11 hard rocking and melodic new tracks that kind of run all over the place, including some of the heaviest tracks ever done by any of them, as well as some softer acoustical and vocal tracks. It ends up being a really smooth blend of musical talent that comes from the hearts of the artists themselves straight to the ears of eager rock fans around the world.
On August 25th, Saint Asonia made a return visit to Columbus, OH touring in support of the new release at the Newport Music Hall. It was a solid crowd, fans both old and new, their performance was dynamic and energenic; their stage presence infallible. The set included most of the tracks from the new release as well as covers of both Three Days Grace and Staind hits. With such a diverse and successful musical history shared by the band members the live performance is one that covers many popular hits and gives the group a unique opportunity to impact fans of all the individual members previous accomplishments. The future of the group is unclear at this time, but rumor has it that band has no plans of limiting this work to one release, so it’s safe to say the chances of hearing some more new music from these guys is pretty good.
Saint Asonia will soon be wrapping up this current tour so we will be watching closely to see what happens next, in the meantime be on the look out for remaining tour dates at a venue near you.
