Michigan based hard rockers from Grand Rapids, Pop Evil are still gaining serious momentum in the hearts of Ohio fans. On July 11th Pop Evil took the stage for 99.7 The Blitz “Great Summer Smokeout”, in front of a sold out crowd at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH. Ohio fans have come to expect a high energy performance and the guys always deliver, it didn’t take long before the entire crowd was jumping in sync with the band on stage. In addition to hard rocking number 1 hits like “Trenches,” “Torn to Pieces” and “Deal With the Devil”, Ohio fans were treated to couple of soon to be released tracks, “Footsteps” and “In Disarray” from the upcoming CD release “Up”, due out in mid August, which is also available for pre-order here.
Bassist Matt DiRito’s high flying, energetic stage presence has practically become a trademark feature of every performance, running and jumping from one end of the stage to the other, flailing his bass guitar around with ease hitting every cord over his head and even at times behind his back. Combined with the hard hitting power drummer Chachi Riot belting out a rich, solid tempo, whether hunkered down behind his kit trashing out or standing up delivering a series of aggressive beats on the skins. Davey Grahs and Nick Fuelling on rhythm and lead combine to provide the band with their distinctively heavy riffs and melodic rhythms. Front man Leigh Kakaty continues to evolve and push the limits of his dynamic vocal range, which is very apparent in the new tracks, which have a sound and feel that is very different from anything we have heard from Pop Evil before.
It is obvious from their stage presence that Pop Evil takes the fans very seriously, they seem to have a very unique bond and interaction with the fans that highlights their appreciation as well as the fans appreciation for them. Every performance delivers a high energy, positive vibe that can be felt throughout the entire venue. This is not the kind of show that leaves fans sitting in their seats, from the front to the back of the house the entire audience is fully engaged and connected with the band.
Fans all around are eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated release of their 4th studio CD and look forward to supporting the band as they reach higher and higher in their journey to bring Pop Evil to the next level.
