After being sick i’m just getting back to writing, and man this one has been burning a hole in my head. I was originally asked to go up to Cleveland to The House Of Blues to shoot Ne Obliviscaris which was enough on it’s own, but after finding out Cradle of Filth was headlining the show and squeezing the Butcher Babies in the middle I was on board times times 100. I had also never shot at The House Of Blues, but couldn’t have picked a better place for that show so I’ll be there again as soon as I can!
Cradle Of Filth hasn’t been a long time favorite of mine, they always seemed to lie on my periphery and were always this mysterious creature that I enjoyed occasionally. But after seeing them live, I have seen so many more sides to them. They are true musicians, and true entertainers in every sense of the word. Starting off the show with an audience sing along to some old timey tune that I can’t recall. Their guitar tech came out and led the singalong and got it all on tape. Can’t wait to see that silliness from the perch of the stage. Yeah, after an hour looking….I still haven’t been able to figure the damned song out.
Anyway, Cradle took the stage with all the cheers and screaming fans that I expected. Dani led the band out to battle and battle they did. Truly, I couldn’t be happier with the showmanship of the band. Each member had a familiar care and connection with their fans and even with the photographers stopping to pose for shots for me, smiling and making eye contact with random fans. I would be shocked if someone went home unfulfilled. You often see bands that smile and do “their job” but it’s quite obvious that Cradle of Filth love their fans like family and we respond in kind.
Thank you to Dani, Martin, Daniel, Ashok, Richard and Lindsay! You made another fan in me.
Make sure to check out Cradle Of Filth’s latest offering, Hammer Of The Witches cause it’s goddamn bad ass, and make sure to pick up Nymphetamine for good measure!
