There is something I just can’t put my finger on with Highly Suspect, the band just draws you in and you can’t help but to feel them. You’d wouldn’t think they kicked off their musical career playing cover tunes in small bars around Cape Cod, Mass. But that wasn’t long in the stars for the Highly Suspect trio, these boys from the Cape have been electrified with the soul of legendary musicians, dead and alive. With the kind of raw talent and soul that oozes out of the Meyer twins and Johnny it’s no surprise they’ve had what seems like a meteoric rise to become a Grammy nominated, fiercely followed and loved original American rock group.
The first time I was introduced to Highly Suspect, I was already late to the game with their video for Serotonia. One look at Johnny and he’s got you thinking one thing, then he opens his mouth and throws you in a whole different mood. “Terrible” Johnny Stevens has the soul of Jim Morrison, the unified voice of Temple of The Dog and the look of a handsome tattooed carny. All three of these boys garner the love of the ladies, and the respect of the music community the world over and we all know sometimes that doesn’t go hand in hand.
Highly Suspect is on tour in support of their last album Mister Asylum and is simultaneously dropping in new songs here and there in preparation for their forthcoming album The Boy Who Died Wolf.
Till you get a chance to buy the new record yourself I’ll leave you with my favorite track for you to listen to while you check out the photo gallery from the show!.
