So I was looking around at the Knotfest website, wishing I was in California so I could attend. Knotfest for those out of the loop is the huge show created by slipknot featuring music on 5 stages and comes complete with a fiery thunderdome. Anyway, I checked out the about section and noticed the typical things like a map, a bio of the festival and what to expect.
But what I didn’t expect was the massive list of things you couldn’t bring in. I’ve been lucky enough to be working at most shows recently so I haven’t gotten the full on glove love from the gate security but damn. If this is the way it’s going, I can see us all checking shoes at the door and wearing community sandals when you get inside. (Hope they have your size) Below is the list of things you can NOT bring in with you.
Now some of this is an obvious DUH.
- Frozen water bottles
- Misting fans
- Open cigarettes
- Professional cameras/GoPro attachments
- Lawn chairs
- Spray sun block
- Soda cans/sports drink
- Water backpacks
- Coolers/Ice chests
- Illegal contraband
- Laser pointers
- Open containers of any kind
- Spiked accessories
- Wallets with chain or other chain accessories
- Umbrella’s of any kind
- Weapons of any kind (including pepper spray)
- Large metal key chains
- Vape pens or E-cigarette
- Strollers/Skate boards/bicycles
- Glass containers of any kind/Aerosol cans
- Eye drops
- Beach balls
- Markers, pens, spray paint
- Large purses or bags (cant be bigger than 12×12)
Really nice I have been a smoker the fact that you can’t bring a vape, or an open pack of smokes was odd. I know a lot of people are going to be caught off guard with that, and what are you going to light your smokes with when you finally do get inside and open your new pack up? NO lighters allowed. But there are some other things like blankets and pens that I thought were harmless but can apparently cause the oxygen masks to drop down from the festival sky.
Do you see anything on the list that’s weird? What’s changed over the years and what can you see changing soon?
